The Party's Over: The Case for a Canadian Rebellion

The Party's Over

This book describes reasons for escalating unrest in Canada and a possible rebellion sentiment. Believing everything in Canada is broken, Canadians have had enough.

This book discusses the increasing alienation between Canada's Have and Have Nots; the erosion of democracy; the abuse of power by governments; the slaughter of health care, Canada's sacred cow; the tents, greed and mansions of the housing crisis; the increasing counter-consumer culture of business and the plight of the disabled. The almost absolute lack of accountability in Canada by people in positions of authority and power is discussed. Whether they be politicians, government bureaucrats, government agencies, crown corporations, business owners or regulatory bodies, nobody is willing to take responsibility for the continuing and increasingly negative outcomes suffered by Canadians just going about their everyday lives.

Previous Canadian rebellions are reviewed and why they matter today. Canadians have demonstrated at least three times that when they've had enough and when they've been pushed beyond their limits for too long, they will rebel.

Backed by evidence and providing a wealth of illustrations, The Party's Over: The Case for a Canadian Rebellion tells it all and tells it like it is. A shadow is currently cast over Canada putting Canadians in a dark place. Uncertainty hovers over them like a storm cloud.

If Canadians are talking about everything discussed in this book in their living rooms right now, will they continue to simply talk or will they do something?

Find out in this exposé before the storm cloud explodes.

The Party's Over: The Case for a Canadian Rebellion, by Darry Marengere with Dave Myatt, is available in e-book format at Amazon, Kobo, Apple's iBooks store and Google Play Books.

Flanagan Soup

Flanagan Soup

The family that dines together, stays together.

Flanagan Soup chronicles the day-to-day life of a family striving to achieve health, happiness and prosperity in Canada.

Patriarch Tom Flanagan comes to the Ottawa Valley from Dublin after the Second World War. He starts an automotive service centre in a small town and marries local resident Annie O’Reilly. Tom sires children Patrick, Maureen and Ciarán.

Patrick follows in his father’s footsteps, working in the automotive service centre and eventually taking it over. He doesn’t marry but loves watching professional sports and is an avid volleyball player.

Maureen marries Ottawa Valley carpenter Ken Karpowiec in 1980, studies art in college and becomes a founding member of the local artists’ guild. She and Ken have two children.

Ciarán leaves the Ottawa Valley in 1980 to study computer science at the University of Ottawa. He graduates and secures a full-time position in the federal government in 1984.

Ciarán meets Francine Gingras after a rather rough evening of drinking in Ottawa’s ByWard Market in 1986. They marry in 1988. Over the course of the next six years, Ciarán and Francine purchase a new home in the Ottawa suburb of Orleans and have two children. Francine works in retail and has two sisters: one who lives on disability in Ottawa and one who is a hospital manager in Gatineau.

Over the course of the e-book, the saga of the Flanagan family is told. The joys they celebrate, the struggles they face, the challenges they overcome, the heartaches they experience and the milestones they achieve are chronicled. In particular, the e-book illustrates the shift in the Canadian landscape over 70 years from a land of opportunity to a society fraught with difficulty and struggle. The resilience of the human spirit is celebrated in the Flanagan family’s quest for life, love and happiness.

The electronic (e-book) version of Flanagan Soup is available at Amazon, Kobo and Apple's iBooks store.

1001: Corruption and Treachery in a Small Town

1001: Corruption and Treachery in a Small Town

A sleepy small town is about to be rocked to its roots.

Giovanni DeVito was discouraged. He browsed the internet late one night, vainly searching for something – anything – that could help him in his despondent situation.

Giovanni had relocated to a small town and had purchased a newly-built home a year earlier. A series of interesting experiences followed.

Giovanni discovered a national not-for-profit advocacy and support organization. Desperate for help, he sent it a distraught e-mail message.

Giovanni's phone rang at precisely 9 a.m. the next morning.

"May I talk to Giovanni DeVito, please?" a woman's firm voice thundered.

"Speaking," replied Giovanni sheepishly.

"Mr. DeVito, my name is Aurora Perez and I'm the president of Canadian Home Quality Alliance."

Aurora Perez would play an important role in resolving Giovanni’s problems. Together with his best friend Barry Tremblay, Giovanni would uncover a web of corruption that would shatter the small town to which he had relocated. Giovanni didn’t take things lying down.

Packed with twists and turns that escalate to a bombshell climax, this thriller is based on a Canadian lived experience. With more and more new homes being built and Canadians relocating to small towns for remote work, 1001: Corruption & Treachery in a Small Town is an enlightening good read.
